Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled a list of the most common questions we get from groups and families visiting Thunder Rapids Amusement Park from Winnipeg and surrounding cities, Headingley and Manitoba. If you don’t find your question below, please contact us for further assistance.

Q. What Are Your Hours?

Open in spring once weather permits.

Q. Do We Give Donations For Wedding Socials And Other Special Fundraising Events?

Yes! We’re always happy to support our local community by contributing some free passes for silent auctions. However, only when we are open for the season.

When we are open, you will have two options:

You can email your request to and say you wish to pick up your donation when we have it ready.

Mail in your request along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Thunder Rapids, 5058 Portage Ave. Headingley MB, R4H 1E1. We will then mail out your free passes.

All donation requests must be submitted at least 1 month prior to the social event.

Q. What Are Your Age And Height Restrictions?

Kiddie Karts – 3 to 5 years and minimum 40″ tall

Junior Karts – 6 to 8 years and minimum 44″ tall

Indy Single Karts – driver must be a minimum of 9 years old and 52″ tall

Q. What Kind Of Special Events Are Held At Thunder Rapids?

The Huntington Society has a very successful annual fundraising event in September on the 1st weekend after the Labour Day long weekend.

For details on their Huntington Go Kart Challenge, please contact their president Vern Barrett at 204-694-1779 or visit the Go Kart Challenge Website.

Q. How Can I Apply For A Job?

It’s best if you can come down in person to fill out an application form and bring in your resume.

If we’re not open for the season yet, you can either email us at, send by fax, or mail in your resume.

We usually hire at least a few new part-time and full-time staff each season. Positions consist of mechanics, track and bumper boat personnel, and inside staff for concession and ticket sales.

It’s not just a great place to come and visit – it’s also a great place to work!
